The 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat fuses the unmistakable elements of the classic muscle era with engineering refinements that were once unimaginable in Detroit’s golden age. Dodge intentionally rooted the Hellcat’s aesthetic in the Challenger lineage, and this 2016 model showcases that approach perfectly. The exterior features a new grille inspired by the 1971 Challenger, paired with quad LED “Halo Ring” headlights, LED tail lights, and a functional hood intake on HEMI models. Even the inner left driving lamp was removed to create a direct air path to the supercharger. Once rolling, the car’s acceleration becomes exhilarating, going from 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. To help tame or unleash this performance, Dodge equipped the Hellcat with two key fobs: a “black key” that limits output to 500 hp, and a “red key” that unlocks the full 707 hp. Inside, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen with radio and available navigation offers “SRT Performance Pages,” allowing the driver to adjust dampers, traction control, shift strategies, and even horsepower levels. The retro-styled gauge cluster aesthetically brings the past into the present, nodding to its Challenger heritage. The Hellcat is never docile. After 15 years of excellence, Dodge Challenger production came to an end in 2023 due to tightening U.S. EPA emissions requirements.
